Hey, I’m Tania, the creator of Figlinum. After working 2 years in the culinary industry and 2 years in an office marketing job I realized that I can combine two skills and passions into one by creating a pottery brand. I want to bring a piece of affordable handmade pottery in every house for your meals to be more enjoyable.
When I was a little girl, I used to watch BBC documentaries about the ocean and movies from Jacques-Yves Cousteau - the French oceanographer, conservationist and explorer who was my first TV hero and I dreamed about becoming a marine scientist.
As an adult I realized the need to help preserve our big blue planet by keeping its waters clean and diversely inhabited because I believe that many cures and answers can be found below earth’s surface. That’s why I use clean, eco-friendly packaging and the recycled clay to make my pottery.

Redesigning Plastics Initiative
Plastic can be found in thousands of products as a solution to basic engineering and technical challenges.
Unfortunately, it is now found in snow fall in the Arctic and in the Alps, in the salt spray from the waves that crash on our shores, in agriculture soils, and throughout the water column in our ocean. Microplastic has been found in seabirds, fish, shellfish and even in corals and other animals. It fills stomachs and body cavities causing starvation that can be fatal. Some waste plastics become a source of entanglement or choking causing injury and death.
Despite this, investment in plastic production capacity is increasing, its uses are becoming increasingly more complex, and the problem of plastic waste is growing.
The Ocean Foundation’s Solution
The Ocean Foundation will pursue science-informed national legislation in plastic-producing countries to require reengineering of the chemistry of plastic itself, redesigning of plastic products, and limiting what is made from plastic. Our Initiative will move this industry from Complex, Customized and Contaminating to make plastic Safe, Simple and Standardized.
Eco-Friendly Packaging Vendors That We Use
Ranpak Ready Roll
We use this solution instead of the bubble wrap. It is made of a combination of Kraft and tissue paper. The outer material is Kraft paper that has a honeycomb die-cut shape.
Noissue
We use their compostable mailer bags and custom designed tissue paper. Compostable mailers are made from a combination of PBAT, a bio based polymer which is compostable, and PLA which is made up of plant materials such as regular field corn and wheat straw.
Sticker Mule
Apart from stickers, Sticker Mule also prints custom paper packaging tape. The tape is made from reinforced kraft paper and can be recycled along with the box.
